A new partnership with The Queen’s College, Oxford to reach young people in the North West

We are delighted to announce that we will be partnering with The Queen’s College, University of Oxford to reach disadvantaged young people in the North West of England.

Expanding into Cumbria and Lancashire

Through this partnership with The Queen’s College, The Access Project will extend into four schools in Cumbria and Lancashire. We will deliver our programme of mentoring and tuition from September 2022 so that students in these schools can beat the odds to secure places at leading universities.

Nathan Sansom, Chief Executive of The Access Project, said: “Our partnership with The Queen’s College is a new kind of partnership – their long-term, three-year commitment to four schools has enabled us to expand into a brand-new region. The North West was enormously impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic so our growth into this area comes at a time when young people need our support more than ever.”

Dr Claire Craig, the Provost of The Queen’s College, said: “The College was founded in the 14th century with the aim to educate people from impoverished regions in the North of England. This commitment to providing an education for the brightest and best regardless of their backgrounds has endured over the centuries. Today’s new partnership with The Access Project is the next step in supporting young people in a sustained way to enable them to reach their full potential. I am delighted that we will be focusing our efforts in the traditional College heartlands.”
