Future star Brianna secures spot at prestigious BRIT School
Meet Brianna – a student on our programme with a bright future at the country’s most prestigious performing arts college.
While she waits for her GCSE results in August, she’s already secured her next step in education. This September, Brianna is off to the BRIT School to study musical theatre.
Brianna’s journey with The Access Project
Brianna is a Year 11 student from London. She enrolled on The Access Project’s programme at the start of Year 10 to improve her exam results. Alongside her usual studies, she attended regular workshops with her University Access Officer and weekly one-to-one online sessions with her GCSE tutor.
“I wanted to get better grades in my GCSEs”, she said. “There are so many people in the classroom, but my tutorials are one-to-one so I can ask all the questions I need to that I often can’t in class”.
“The Access Project has helped me with setting goals and learning different methods of revision, for example I have learnt how to use flashcards and mind maps effectively”, Brianna told us. “I have improved in different areas in Maths such as ratios and bearings in Maths as we went over it in my tuition”.
The Access Project student places at prestigious BRIT School
The BRIT School is the country’s leading performance and creative arts school. College alumni include global superstars Adele, Tom Holland and Leona Lewis. Collectively, BRIT School alumni have won 15 BRIT Awards, 19 Grammys, two BAFTAs and two Academy Awards.
Brianna hopes to one day join their ranks. In the future, Brianna hopes to study acting at university.
Brianna said: “My future goal is to be an actor. Being part of The Access Project has helped me know what sort of universities to apply for and how to get there”.
Last year, Brianna visited Queen Mary University of London as part of The Access Project’s university enrichment programme. The trip gave her a glimpse of university life.
She added: “We were all in groups and organised a logo for a business which I really enjoyed. We learned a lot about different unis and how to get in, and what different societies there were”.
