“This trip has opened my eyes to the different pathways I can take”

The grounds of Magdalen College, University of Oxford, are beautiful on any given day, but on a sunny Monday in June they could not have looked better.

Students from five of our London partner schools had the opportunity to experience a day at Magdalen. These high potential students are all enrolled on our Oxbridge Pathways programme, established to provide additional support for students who are applying to study at competitive institutions or courses.

As part of this, Magdalen College, a valued long-standing university partner of The Access Project, offered a memorable day for our students.  

Following some helpful Oxbridge application tips, a group of Magdalen College student ambassadors ran an engaging Q&A session – providing useful insights into life at Oxford University – before a tour of the stunning college grounds, which even feature a deer park! We were delighted that Queen’s College, another of our important university partners, also opened their doors to us so that these students were able to visit not one but two Oxford colleges over the course of the day. 

The highlight of the day was the subject tutorials, where our students had in-depth discussions on their chosen subjects run by the student ambassadors. This unique opportunity allowed our students to get a real taste of academic tutorials, grappling with new concepts and exploring more familiar ideas in-depth.
